New and Upcoming Cars You Should Know About
The automobile industry is constantly changing, and every year brings new technology, exciting concept vehicles and reintroductions of iconic cars. While it's no surprise that the future of the automobile is electric, there are still quite a few new gasoline-powered vehicles that have or will be soon hitting showrooms. Here are a few of the most exciting new and upcoming cars.
Lexus LC Convertible Concept
The Lexus LC Coupe is a stunning example of Lexus' prowess when it comes to blending head-turning style and heart-pumping performance, and the Lexus LC Convertible Concept is no exception. While not production (or at least not yet), the LC Convertible should be at the top of everyone's shopping list if it does enter production. Expect similar styling and handling that are found in the Coupe version.
2020 Toyota GR Supra
Throughout its four generations, the Toyota Supra gained a loyal following and widespread popularity, especially among car enthusiasts (its prominence in the first Fast and Furious movie also helped). The fourth-generation Supra was the most loved, with its unmistakable aerodynamic body, large spoiler and twin-turbocharged engine that made 320 horsepower. However, production for the Supra ended in 2002, and for close to two decades, Toyota did not produce a car that came close to the Supra in terms of performance or popularity. However, Toyota began working on new Supra in the years following, unveiling a concept car in 2014 and in 2018, officially announcing the return of the Supra.
In January 2019, Toyota's iconic sports car made its return, even more powerful and stunning than before. Engineered alongside BMW, the 2020 Toyota GR Supra makes 335 horsepower and 365 lb-ft. of torque, thanks to a roaring 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six engine. That power translates to a blazing fast 4.1-second 0-60 time. Add to that a refined, race-inspired interior, optimal weight distribution and Brembo® front brakes, and the 2020 GR Supra is ready to take its storied past into the future at full speed.
Volkswagen I.D. Buzz Concept
Volkswagen has built its reputation on exceptional engineering and unmistakable designs, and the ID. Buzz Concept is no exception. With the German manufacturer's plans to eventually go completely electric, the I.D. BUZZ is an exciting look at VW's future while taking its styling from one of its most well-known vehicles, the Microbus. The I.D. BUZZ, while still only a concept, is expected to hit the market in 2022, bringing with it a fully-electric powertrain, a spacious interior, reconfigurable seating options and controls and design elements that look straight out of a sci-fi flick. When the I.D. Buzz makes its way to roads, there will be no mistaking it for VW vans and buses of the past - this electric vehicle will be powered by a 369-horsepower electric motor.
2020 Ford Bronco
The Mustang isn't the only equine-inspired vehicle in Ford's stable. Set to return in 2020, the Ford Bronco was once a shining example of what a powerful, off-road SUV could - and should - be.
The Ford Bronco was produced for over 30 years, but the last one rolled out of the factory in 1996. It was a muscular, truck-based SUV that could handle anything thrown its way, thanks to its four-wheel drive and V8 engine. The Bronco competed with the Jeep CJ, and did a terrific job of it.Â
This year, Ford officially announced the return of its rugged off-roader, scheduled to be released in 2020. Although Ford has yet to release pictures, specs or prices, rumors are swirling of what models will be released, and MotorTrend reported that a smaller, Ford Escape-inspired version will also be made. All we know for now is that the return of the Ford Bronco will be worth the wait.
